We’re so close to the New Year! Jan. 1, 2017 is just 2 weeks away, and that means New Year’s resolutions abound. Do you know what the top 10 New Year’s resolutions were last year? As you probably can guess, getting fit and losing weight topped the list (as it usually does). Lots of people will be joining gyms and start eating healthy with enthusiasm and high hopes for the transformations they will see in the coming year.

Here are some of the typical top 10 resolutions (lists vary depending on who did the polling):

Why are these resolutions always so popular? Well, it’s because people believe accomplishing these things will make them happier.

I admit, I don’t really make formal resolutions, but I do have a tendency to try to establish healthier habits with each New Year. I’m sure that has everything to do with the overindulgence of the holidays. I eat all the good stuff when it’s there (like cookies, mashed potatoes, oven-baked mac & cheese, etc., etc., etc.), and once January rolls around, I always find I’ve bloated up. So I jump on the fitness bandwagon.

Usually I burn out after a couple of months and any thoughts of “transforming” go out the window. Why is that? We set these goals for ourselves every year, and despite best intentions, most of us fail at them every single year.

Get Fit, Get Happy 2017 Starts Jan. 2!

When does the Challenge Group start and what does it entail?

My Get Fit, Get Happy 2017 group starts on Jan. 2. Workout programs begin on Jan. 9 and we finish our group on Feb. 5. The group will be hosted on Beachbody’s My Challenge Tracker app, and everything we post will only be visible to other members of the group. I’m keeping this group off of Facebook so none of us have the temptation to get lost in the scroll hole that is the Facebook Newsfeed when we’re supposed to be checking into the Challenge Group (that newsfeed is my nemesis!). The week leading up to Jan. 9 is our prep week. During this week I will ask you to set your goals and take before pictures and measurements (you can share these with the group or keep them to yourself). We’ll also dive into meal planning/prepping so we’re ready to go when we start our programs on Jan. 9. The first week is spent on planning so that you are mentally prepared to jump into your program and get the results you want. After planning week, I’ll post daily tips, motivation, support, recipes, and sample meal plans & templates. This will be a safe, supportive, friendly environment where we will share our ups and downs. You will be expected to post in the group everyday and tell us how your day went (your post can be whatever you like, sweaty selfies, pictures of your food, text saying “today was ____”, etc.). When you have finished your program, you will post your results in any way you feel comfortable (you don’t have to reveal any numbers whatsoever if you don’t want to!), and you have the choice to continue on in my groups, or stop. Simple!

Who is the Challenge Group for?

I’m looking for 15-20 people who are not already working with a Beachbody Coach. If you have a coach, please reach out to him/her because I’m sure they’ll have a New Year group to help you reach your goals!
